We are looking for a Pricing Strategist for the Shared Services Center of a major multinational in the legal market.

Role Purpose:

The pricing strategist will support the pricing strategy function by preparing analysis to drive the design and negotiation of customer relationship rate agreements for major clients

The price strategist will contribute to business analysis in change-oriented projects to boost the profitability of the entire company; supporting select client teams in developing appropriate business approaches for our clients; and provide a more robust and regular analysis of key prices, practice group trends, and customer issues that can be applied to proposals and arguments.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Perform pricing and profitability analysis on major clients, industry groups and practice groups
  • Analyze and interpret client transaction history, billing and collections data, independently research matters to investigate scope and cost, and engage (where appropriate) with client teams to build operational context on historic matters
  • Work closely with the Firm team to provide analysis and reporting to support the Firm's client, industry, practice development initiatives, including:

- Conducting periodic pricing and profitability analysis for strategic clients as appropriate, including the development, and maintenance, of client specific performance against targets

- Conducting periodic pricing and profitability analysis for our global industry and practice groups

- Support the development of client relationship/matter fee deals.

  • Development of analytical pricing tools:
  • Support the development of Firm-wide analytical pricing tools, including maintenance of the Firm's Global Rate Card, Matter Pricing Tool (and subsequent iterations of) and other bespoke pricing tools
  • Enhance and further develop tools and processes to support scoping on engagements, budgeting and reporting
  • Organize and improve existing collection of Excel-based fee approach templates for optimization and wider deployment

 

Key Skills & Experience Required:

  • Relevant undergraduate degree required; coursework in business, finance, accounting, applied math or statistics strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in applications for data analysis, charting, visualization and presentation: Excel, Power BI, PowerPoint, Tableau, ClickView
  • Experience with data manipulation for exploratory analysis and insight generation; proficiency with Python or R a plus
  • Some experience with financial analysis or business management, ideally in a professional services environment
  • Familiarity with law firm operations, legal accounting and finance
  • Familiarity with the elements of law firm profitability at practice group, service line, client, matter and attorney level
  • Rigorous integrated analytical and financial management skills
  • Some familiarity with, or an aptitude for development of, market practices relative to pricing, legal project management, practice innovation approaches and partnering with emerging providers within a law firm setting; awareness of technology applicable to the function; demonstrated knowledge of the global marketplace for legal and professional services
  • Outstanding communication skills; demonstrated ability and desire to work collaboratively with senior-level professionals to help them succeed in meeting their business development objectives
  • Ability to work independently; willingness to work hands-on to achieve objectives in a relatively flat organizational structure
  • Must have an advanced / bilingual level of English
